Ascentis Qualifications

​Heathlands delivers accredited Ascentis qualifications in association and partnership with the CLAS (Community Learning and Skills) team.
The Ascentis customised programmes of learning are supported and assisted by our own qualified tutors and support worker team. This can be invaluable in recognising achievement, and progress learners onto further study.
Qualifications include:
  • On-demand registration and assessment.
  • Unit certification
  • Paper-based, controlled assessments held in the classroom environment.
  • Flexibility to deliver roll-on-roll off programmes.
  • Bitesize units which are perfect for underpinning skills and knowledge required for learners to progress as well as building confidence and abilities in some of the following subjects.

​Independent Living

  • Building social and personal development skills.
  • Working as an individual and as a team with their peers.
  • Understanding the importance of forming new relationships and friendships.
  • Developing personal confidence.
  • Seeking guidance and advice in their local community.
  • How to feel part of a diverse society.
  • Knowing the local area and accessing local facilities.
  • Participating in and contributing to community activities and projects.

Wonders of Nature

  • Discover, discuss and understand the natural world and the environment.
  • Study human environmental impact and how to improve it through conservation.
  • Gain knowledge about animals and plants.
  • Explore the changing of the seasons.
  • Understand geographical phenomena such as our oceans, mountains, rivers and lakes.

Exploring Art

  • Exploration and development of a wide variety of art practices.
  • Use of a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, 3D art, printing, text, and sewing and textiles.
  • Opportunities to articulate their own narratives through creative expression.
  • Tailored programme of learning to encourage growth of individual talents.

Maths & English

Maths
  • Enable learners to bridge gaps in their mathematical knowledge.
  • Studying in practical ways, applying core skills to real-life situations.
  • Improving recognition of number, addition, subtraction and multiplication.
  • Recognition and identification of shape, sequence, order, time, weights and measures and capacity.
  • Using laptops, completing worksheets and playing games to improve skills.

English
  • Recognition and use of words.
  • Improving reading, writing and communication skills.
  • Focus on sentence structure, grammar, punctuation and spelling.

Basic Cooking Skills

  • Preparing, cooking and serving basic meals.
  • Learning a variety of cooking methods.
  • How to safely store food.
  • Know the importance of our own personal hygiene practice in the kitchen.
  • Demonstrate how to work safely in a kitchen environment.
  • Understand the importance of eating a balanced diet.
  • Explore where our food comes from.
